I’m putting out this ramble in an anon ask so that it can be hit with the peer review of at least one person. I think antis and purity culture are largely at fault for porn being one of many useful tools for actual groomers. Teens are figuring out themselves and their sexuality through porn and erotica. They are testing the edges of their maturity by clicking past age barrier buttons themselves. So if all the peers around them are saying that a particular type of porn that they enjoy – let’s say step sister – is inherently pedophilic, tainted – or it could be a ship they like, and some looser adult who is trying to groom them is the first person they find who says getting turned on by or even intellectually curious about this is OK and doesn’t make them a bad person… Then an effective tool has been created. Because it’s not even the pornography/fanfiction that the adult is given them access to – that’s shit they can find online anytime they want – it’s the safety to have an idea in their head, the safety to even think something is attractive, or that a ship is interesting at all even for reasons outside of sexuality that the groomer is providing them.
Donno if I 100% agree with everything here, but it’s certainly some interesting and valid thoughts anon.
