I’m against calling AO3 a money laundering scheme but I think there are aspects of the website which can be criticized I think certain things should be removed, but I’m not talking about entirely fictional stuff like lolisho. I mean rpf, which sometimes involves child celebrities
First off anyone and everyone should be against calling AO3 a money laundering scheme because it is simply not true.
I’ll agree that underage RPF should be illegal when people agree that the exploitation of minors for entertainment industry purposes such as child actors and child musicians should also be illegal.
Celebrities give up their right to privacy when they become public figures.
Having horny fanfiction written about you is an expected part of being a celebrity and public figure and cannot be made illegal without making important forms of satire easily bannable offenses.
Children should never be public figures.
But since they are, we can’t make fiction about them illegal.
Written smut about irl children is deeply taboo, and gross to me personally, but you have to acknowledge that it is not nearly the worst of the violations against child celebrities that are completely normalized.
