Do you recommend NeoCities as a first-time host for someone who; 1) Has never made a website before and 2)Wants to make everything fluffy “wholesome” content and dark, disturbing content (mostly of the mental variety – I’m not one for bloodshed but I AM one for kidnapping stories)? Do you think they’d be a good fit for it? I’m still debating it, and I’m bad at navigating new sites (so trying to dig through their “main” page is…kinda hard without pointers)

We recommend neocities to anyone who is excited to get that “old web” experience, and to anyone who is excited to learn how to do HTML.
It probably does not make a good first time host for anyone who is NOT excited to learn a little html however!
Neocities relies heavily on the old way of doing things, which is heavily customizable, but also a lot of work.
The years in between geocities and now, host have focused on stripping the work (and customization options) out of creating a website, so going back to the old way of doing things, while super rewarding, is sometimes a lot of work.
That said, go for it!!
