That was G+’s model, right? With the user creating circles of folks whom they OK with sharing certain content?

This is more of a LiveJournal style, IME.

Pillowfort is great in theory, but people seeking to move there should know that their moderation is extremely inconsistent.

There was a high profile case early on where they banned a user for an offense that there was no rule against at the time, and then made the rule up afterward to justify it.

here is the TOS rule in question as it was added:

Sexually explicit artwork that features

fictional characters who appear pre-pubescent; or
fictional characters who otherwise can be definitively and reasonably identified as minors, and lacks legitimate artistic, political, literary, or scientific value.

This section applies to visual content such as illustrations, drawings, paintings, comics, digitally-generated images, and related visual content that appears to (1) show a minor engaged in sexual conduct or (2) show a minor with exposed genitalia in a way that is intended to sexualize them.

as you can see. pillowfort prohibits content of “fictional characters who appear per-pubescent”; this is a flimsy standard with no specific description that can easily lead to body shaming and banning of depictions of adult humans and characters.
