It sometimes feels like some Fandoms just don’t have any active crowd that isn’t fixated on purity or what have you nowadays.In one of my old fandoms, there’s a duo that aren’t related but have a sibling-like relationship most of the time. Fans are absolutely rabid about treating these characters as full blood brothers and shutting down anyone that suggests differently.Like I saw a post where someone joked the younger one might have a little kid type crush on the older character, just as a joke about a line. They got torn apart for even joking about it. Pretty much begged people to believe they didn’t actually ship it and just thought it was funny, course that wasn’t enough.I’ve been fixating on my special interests a lot lately due to stress and money issues, and this kind of stuff ruins a lot of that blissful comfort for me. Even if I don’t ship it, it means that if I ever say something that could be mildly misconstrued I could end up with people having a go at me, and that’s the real messed up crap
