i think too many people overthink phoenix wright’s character change in aa4. he’s been through shit. he lost his job because of something out of his control. hes never been a “beacon of light” (to anybody but edgeworth), he’s ALWAYS BEEN asshole-ish, and snarky, and stingy as all hell. and he’s even MORE strapped for cash while trying to raise his adopted daughter, and quite frankly, if i had to spend 7 years with kristoph fucking gavin, i wouldnt come out the same either. hes still phoenix wright. hes just developed a few mental illnesses and gone through a divorce, theres nothing strange or ooc about that. oh and he definitely deals drugs now
