My friends– there seems to be a wave of terminations and shadowbans going around.
Please stay safe, and make sure people know where to find you off-site!
For further context I have had two mutuals send asks to tell us their blogs were termed in the last 12 hours.
And I just saw another mutual on my dash who has been shadowbanned.
This actually happened to me a few weeks ago.
If you have not violated any content policies, contact tumblr support and tell them that your account (be sure to provide your url) was wrongfully terminated and that you have not violated their content policies and that you would like your blog to be reinstated. It may take several days for them to get back to you, but they do eventually.
It seems they are sometimes faster at getting back to people if you contact them on twitter, too (though this was not the case for me).
Of course, it is very annoying and I understand that it may be the last straw for some people, so maybe they won’t want to bother.
If you try to contact tumblr through their support feature on the website, please be aware you MUST use a different email than the email that was associated with your banned account.
When tumblr bans your account they block support requests from that email.
This is not made clear anywhere, and is the reason people tend to be more successful getting support for their accounts on twitter or reddit.
Well shit, that explains my old blog not getting responses.
Yeah, its an extremely underhanded move by tumblr support. :/
