Listen, i am a narumitsu/wrightworth enjoyer through and through, and i too, like to joke about the queer readings of edgeworth’s lines a lot. BUT i feel like that often overshadows the depths of his character and his growth throughout the series (mainly the main trilogy).
Edgeworth is a deeply troubled and traumatized man who suddenly has to reconsider his entire life and moral values (partly) because of things Phoenix has brought to light.
By centering edgeworth’s interpreted feelings towards phoenix when portraying him, we completely flatten his character and forget the nuance.
To me the way his relation to Wright changes over the trilogy reflects a deep range of feelings that shouldn’t just be watered down to “hehe gay”
And that nuance *can* exist in a romantic interpretation, but we need to remember to keep that character arc and that nuance.
