i feel like “being on the internet as a young teenager messed up my psyschology” is a very common sentiment on here and like. i guess thats your lived experience or whatever but cant relate. being on the internet as a young teenager was great. i got to read Posts
by far the biggest upshot of my experience of using the internet in the late oughts was that the exposure to strange and lurid things really helped calibrate my sense of instinctive disgust, and gave me a strong sense of solidarity with other freaks and weirdoes
so it’s always massively jarring to me when people act like seeing goatse or 2g1c or whatever like, ruined them or something
The internet fixed my psychology. I would not be able to have any friends or hold down a job for more than a month or so without the general worldview and people skills I learned from Posts/essays online.
