Not to drag up old shit, but I’m never going to stop pointing to Dream Daddy as a perfect example of queer media getting held to ridiculously high standards that straight media never is.

Dream Daddy is a good game with awesome characters and I’m never going to forgive the Internet for how many queer men it shamed out of enjoying it, or how many people pulled some, “ugh, men are gross, make it about lesbians instead” horseshit.

People treat queer men like garbage, and media for queer men is never given the opportunity to shine, ever.

I would just like to state for the record that terfs have started crawling in the notes of this post to tell me all about how Dream Daddy is homophobic and I’m oppressing women somehow.

One of Dream Daddy’s romance options is a trans man who talks about the gender euphoria he feels from having a binder in his preferred style. The game was incredibly popular with trans people, because you can make your character canonically trans–there’s an option to give your character a binder, and to make your character the canon birth-parent of the daughter character.

I’m not saying the game is perfect, and I’m not saying everyone has to love it, but I am saying that it’s incredibly fucking suspicious to see the sorts of people in my notes telling me that I’m wrong and that Dream Daddy deserved all the hate.
