Genuine question why do you compare kink to proshipping? Kink is always between consenting parties. Children cannot consent- making out kinky people to be predators is a part of purity culture and comparing proshipping to it isn’t exactly helping. Kink is a known HEALTHY coping mechanism because of the fail safes and the discussion between parties versus vent pieces which typically should be kept between a person and their therapist and not published online.

here’s a couple of reasons why someone might post darkfic online instead of keeping it to themselves:
- it’s a vent chapter — the work as a whole is not that dark, but the author was in a bad place when they wrote one of the chapters
- some people who are not writers/artists read to cope
- some people read or look at art to get off
- it’s not hurting anyone, so i can do whatever the fuck i want. if you don’t like it, mind your own goddamn business
