Every time an anti says that harassment or death threats/suibaits or even real CSEM are just “pixels on a screen”, I feel myself descending further into madness.
When us pro-fiction folks say that fiction is just pixels on a screen, we mean the fictional characters are just pixels on a screen. Because they are. They can’t be hurt. No amount of pixels can hurt pixels, because pixels can’t think or feel pain.
But when you write death threats or spread someone’s CSA tape from when they were 3, you are using pixels to try and hurt real people. I can’t put a knife through someone and then say, “But it’s just a piece of metal!!!” but I can stab another inanimate object without hurting anyone. Like, how could you seriously not understand this very basic concept???
