You’ve said this before, but incest as a plot point is, like, the best romantic angst? Cause most other sources of angst feel so manufactured–like, character doesn’t want to ruin their friendship by confessing their feelings. Okay, but, like, eventually either give it a try or don’t–if they don’t feel the same it’s not the end of the world, you can stay friends easy if you’re both mature people. But you don’t want to ruin your FAMILY by confessing your feelings? Now THAT is hard to recover from, that’s the real shit.
RIGHT?
The only other way to even approach that level of angst and ‘we can’t be together’ good shit is to write queer relationship specifically in a pre 2000s setting.
