I wish I had an easy answer for you, anon, but you just have to be bold and kill the part of you that cringes. You have to realize that some people are going to think you’re weird, or dumb, or crazy, and not care. It’s easier said than done, and it takes practice.

We have the benefit of a lot of practice, too. We’ve been posting about ourselves and our kin experiences since around 2006 on livejournal, so we’ve kind of been through it all in terms of dismissal and harassment.

And even then, we’ve gone through periods where we didn’t feel comfortable talking about our experiences. But lately we’ve just been like, fuck it. We’ve embraced it.

Not everyone is going to take us seriously. Not everyone is going to want to hear about our experiences.

But that’s okay because we’re allowed to talk about them. No one can stop us. And when our posts DO connect with someone who’s interested, that makes it worth talking about.
