My biggest beef in fandoms is the hypocrite fanpol. Like the biggesst offense that can ever happen is for your OTP to be called ‘proship’ (even though it’s not even what ‘proship means). Like even the slightest possibility of shipping a not-so-wholesome ship is one step away from being an irl murderer and sex offender. So they have to call you names and harass you if you dare to to suggest their ship has problematic elements in it.
And you know why? Because antis made people think it’s moraly right to harass people for liking “problematic” fiction. So nobody will openly admit that their ships are problematic, because it would mean they agree to being harassed and equated with irl criminals. It’s not even that they think that their consumption of ‘problematic media’ is somehow more moral and right than your consumption of ‘problematic media’ – they just pretend what they like is all sparkles, bubbles and fluffy bunnies and was never ‘problematic’ at all.
