Maybe it’s different in other discord servers, but I’ve never needed to send my full ID. I take a picture of it alongside my username and redact everything but my birthday. I like the age gates. They prevent raids and make me feel more comfortable.

What is to stop anyone from using their parents ID?
Or using a picture of an ID they found online?
How does this make anyone safer?
When they check you for an ID at a club or when you buy beer at the grocery store, they are making sure it is your ID.
How does simply presenting *an* ID help anyone?
