It’s really a shame that we mostly only see this relationship dynamic pop up in superhero media.
The experiential concept of attraction and romance is so diverse and chaotic yet we almost always see it channeled in a certain way.
Rance isn’t always gentle and sweet and kind. Sometimes it’s firey and passionate, explosive, confused and angry.
This isn’t necessarily desirable in real life but it fiction, well, I wish we saw it more. That raw, rough passionate of wanting to shake someone, and wanting to kiss them at the same time. Enemies to lovers without the part where they completely stop being enemies.

Blackrom and kismesis are both words for this type of relationship that are used in Homestuck.
The alien race of trolls in Homestuck has a cultural/species understanding of different four types of romance. Red, Black, Pale and Ashen.

Okay so the forum types of romance are themed like the uits of a deck of cards.
❤️ Matespritship, or red romance is the closest trolls have to the typical human ideal of romance. It’s based on mutualism and caring for and supporting your partner. Colloquially refered to as based on the emotion of ‘pity’ as in a woobie or cinnamon roll type attraction. This form of romance is used directly in troll reproduction.
♠️ Kismesitude or black romance is based on rivalry, one upsmanship and struggle, mutual attempts at domination, etc. It’s a relationship where one is at odds with your partner, hopefully in a way that pushes you both to strive and improve in yourself as part of the relationship. Only a toxic kismesis actually tries to kill their partner, but sadly toxic blackroms happen a lot. It’s colloquially based on the emotion of ‘hate’ in a ‘i want to use him as a chewtoy’ ‘hes a wet cat of a man’ type sense. This form of romance is directly used in troll reproduction.
♦️ Moiralliegence or pale romance. This is most likely a human best friend or a queer platonic partner, but typically Morse specific. The ideal form of this relationship involves an aggressive partner being supported and pacified by a timid partner, and the timid partner being supported and coached by the more aggressive partner. This is a ‘he said no pickles’ relationship. This form of romance is not directly used in troll romance.
♣️ Auspisticism or Ashen romance. This doesn’t really have a human equivalent but is a three way troll relationship where one troll acts as the perpetual ‘third wheel’s of a toxic Kismesitude and keeps them from getting too heavily involved and killing one another. This form of romance is not directly used in troll reporoductuon.
