When someone says “bring back bullying” in terms of making ‘weird’ people ‘normal’ I don’t think they know what bullying really is. If you bully someone, you don’t really give a shit if they are a ‘better’ person or if they have changed the thing you don’t like. You will keep doing it because it’s not about getting them to change, it’s about keeping control, and isolation. People’s social skills aren’t gonna magically improve because of bullying, they are going to get worse. Torment and isolation doesn’t make a well socialized person. If you want to help people better themselves, you explain what they could do better, and then you are nice to them after that.
The people who say “bring back bullying” are the same people who thought that it was morally good to bully goths, emos, nerds, queers and autistics in high school.
Never forget that the “goal” of bullying abuse is to punish them for being abnormal, and encourage them through punishment to act in the way that the abuser wants.
