Hey, team. I’m thinking of quitting self shipping for some stupid “I should branch out regarding my hobbies and that also means quitting one of the few things that makes me happy” bull shit. Any suggestions on how to do it with the least amount of pain possible? I just wish I knew what my life would be like if I never self shipped in the first place. If the crushes were just crushes. I don’t wanna quit but I do at the same time since I think I’ll be okay even though I’m sure I won’t since I’ve been doing it for ten years. Exposure therapy would probably be a 50/50 since I know for a fact it would require some repression. Straight up cutting them all out and all their merch and stuff would be the harder route since my room is a huge reflection of my f/os. I’d have to get rid of at least 90% of my stuff. Those are the only two suggestions I csn come up with even though I’m sure they’d probably do more harm than good at this point.
My friend. My dear friend.
Listen to me.
You are allowed to take a break.
You are allowed to take a break from something you enjoy without cutting it out of your life completely.
You are allowed to scale back on something you were formerly very invested in, without deciding you will never do that thing again.
You are allowed to take a break.
When you decide you want to do something else than what you’ve been doing, you don’t have to decide you’re never going to do that thing again.
Doing one thing doesn’t mean quitting the thing you were doing before.
There is no need to treat a hobby like an addition.
You’re allowed to step away and come back later.
You’re allowed to step away without knowing for sure if you are going to come back to it again or not.
You are allowed to do something less without giving it up completely.
You do not need to cut parts of your life that you enjoy out.
You do not have to “quit” something in order to do another thing.
It is not necessary to destroy parts of your life that you are no longer invested in.
You do not need to treat hobbies like toxic addictions.
You are allowed to take a break.
