book banning is unequivocally bad and worth being concerned about, but it’s funny how this practice has survived into the internet age, where information is more readily available than it’s ever been in human history.
“ACK! my kid is going to learn Gender Queer at the school library” dude your kid has a porn machine in his pocket and you pay for it.
There’s an equivalent of book-burning happening online too. You know how platforms keep killing nsfw blogs? Yeah that erases years and decades of documented human sexuality outside of the norm. There are thoughts and values in those communities that are erased.
Bc of worldwide connection, we are rapidly and radically challenging societal norms in online spaces. There is so much value in the information we write and catelog.
Erotica and non-fic literature on unaccepted displays of sexuality are the kinds of books that get burned, and unconventionally sexual people are some of the people routinely tortured and killed under fascism.
