Depictions of racism in fiction are not inherently racist.
Depictions of racism in fiction where the author doesn’t specifically say “being racist is bad” or make only the obvious bad guys racist is not inherently racist.
Depicting racism in fiction does not mean the author is racist.
Context is important. Nuance is important.
You do not want to erase all the depictions of the racism inherent in our society.
You do not want to help those in power cover up the existence of racism by erasing it from media.
You do not want to help society pretend that racism doesn’t exist by banning it’s depiction.
