I always forget the reason that puritans and evangelicals refrain from taking actions they believe are immoral.
Puritans and Evangelicals only refrain from taking immoral actions because they believe that doing those actions literally harms their own personal soul. They think about hurting themselves, instead of about hurting others.
Normal, ethical people refrain from doing immoral actions because they want to refrain from hurting other people.
