As an adult who has watched bluey, i would refer to it as “a parenting show thats marketed as a kids show” There are a lot of really grownup topics that get covered (infertility, grief, etc) but theyre handled in a way that is both easy for children to understand, and prominent enough for adults to relate to, and thus have a basis of how to talk to their kids about things. All in all its very wholesome. I enjoy it a lot, in part because I had terrible parents as a child, so I’m living vicariously through these cartoon dogs. Also, not sure how true this is, so take it with a grain of salt, but i once heard someone state that the childrens “voice acting” is mostly them *actually* playing, just being recorded by a microphone. Theyre also not being named to the public in order to protect their privacy.
A parenting show disguised as a children’s show. Well, we certainly could use more media that shows people parenting with compassion.
It sounds like media we’ll avoid, since fiction with wholesome and uncomplicated parent/child relations tends to trigger some of us (myself included) due to our own parental situation.
It seems like it must be a nice show. This will probably be the last we look into it.
