What is the hayes code?
They hays code was an American system of censorship rules for what could and could not appear in movies of the time.
It’s responsible for such things as forcing married couples on screen to be seen sleeping in separate beds, enforcing that the police are always the good guys, and demanding that any crime in a movie be punished.
