So. Because I (🔍⚔) am extremely old, and extremely nerdy, all of this talk about “secret proship or anti emoji codes” has reminded me of something way back in the day.

“The Geek Code”

The Geek Code, developed in 1993, is a series of letters and symbols used by self-described “geeks” to inform fellow geeks about their personality, appearance, interests, skills, and opinions. The idea is that everything that makes a geek individual can be encoded in a compact format which only other geeks can read. This is deemed to be efficient in some sufficiently geeky manner.

It was once common practice to use a geek code as one’s email or Usenet signature, but the last official version of the code was produced in 1996, and it has now largely fallen out of use.

The Geek Code also birthed descendants, notably “The Furry Code” (which you can read about on wikifur), which was the same thing but for the furry subculture specifically.

Now you may have already guessed this, but what I am proposing is a “Proship Code”, probably noticeably shorter and less detailed than the Geek Code, but it might be funny to use on tumblr, and maybe to put in our signature on the upcoming proship forum.
