OKAY SO this will be more extensive than you asked for but I’ll share plenty of links in this for you, anon.
I think it began here. Apparently, and I’m still gathering information on all of this myself, this is possibly what started it. A fanartist comes out and speaks on how there’s no such thing as a term of proship in Japan.
Antis, as you know, reaaaaaaaaaaaaally didn’t like this.
Thiswhole thread was a response to the fact that antis were apparently trying to bully them into unfollowing someone who is proship. Which, you know, is a Mortal Sin according to the anti cult. There was also this statement which stirred up a whole lot of anti outrage.
So then they wrote this whole statement that was translated and what they’re essentially doing is essentially warning other Japanese fanartists on dealing with people who have ‘proship dni’ in their twt bios.
And that has led to shit like THIS where we see the antis erupting into racism and xenophobia because how dare fanartists in Japan and eastern Asia start blocking people who have proship dni in their bios. The anti response has been, of course, to try removing that statement from their bios so they don’t get blocked but this is damage control; it’s not going to change their behavior.
It’s been spreading like wildfire to the point where it’s getting to mangaka, including ones that antis approve of from whatever the hell their scale of “this person is acceptable to interact with because They’re Pure And Good By Our Standards”.
So now we’re seeing antis bringing up shit like the war crimes and whatnot that Japan has done and it’s been fucking insane. Japanese artists are now calling antis American feelings yakuza which I think is an insult to the yakuza; they’re much better than antis are.
So antis are losing their absolute shit over how they’re getting blocked, desperately trying to remove the proship dni from their bio, and they’re being starved of content which, of course, outrages them immensely.
It’s been fucking wild and I’m over here cackling like an utter madman because ohhh it’s beautiful. We love to see it.
Of course, no anti I’ve seen has seemed to go “oh. Maybe it’s my actions and behavior which are the problem. Maybe it’s me. Maybe I should act like a decent human being.” whatsoever. They’re showing their toxic cultish mentality to an open fault because the Japanese fanartists aren’t putting up with their bullshit and blocking them instead they are losing their minds and it is FUCKING GLORIOUS TO WATCH.
Seriously, watching antis lose their minds because they’re being blocked by artists they love is so beautiful.
