Antis are a prime example of why gatekeeping is actually good sometimes….
There’s a difference between “gatekeeping” (pejorative) and community moderation, is the thing.
Gatekeeping inevitably involves people who don’t have any ownership over a group space trying to assert their ownership over the space by bullying and harassing anyone who they feel doesn’t belong.
That’s what antis do when they try to run proships out of fandom spaces.
Community moderation is the leaders of an actual closed group exerting actual authority to decide who does and doesn’t fit the culture of the group, and maintaining boundaries through rules rather than harassment.
Lol, yeah, I was just using gatekeeping the way it’s typically used. But I mean is that antis invade spaces that aren’t theirs then act surprised when the space doesn’t accommodate them.

Yep.
