Don’t let anyone let you feel shame about your triggers, there’s no such thing as a “wrong” trigger.
Triggers aren’t socially aware. They don’t follow conventions of respectability. They don’t make sense. They aren’t rational. They don’t have rules.
You can’t control your triggers. No one can.
Triggers are complicated and nonsensical. Sometimes you develop a trigger that can be…idk…hurtful might be the best way to say it. You’re not a bad person, you’re just a person that something bad happened to them.
If you find yourself or you are beating yourself up for a trigger, remind yourself that it was out of your control. It doesn’t mean you hate that kind of person, thing, whatever. It means you need to regulate, revive, and grow away from that trigger. But you are not a bad person.
And I promise you that you will eventually find that trigger will fade.
