What would be a good way to moderate a community?
In order to moderate a community, you have to have a space where you can actually decide upon and enforce the rules.
There is no moderating a community through social media like Tumblr, or Twitter, because you aren’t in charge of who can sign up, and you don’t make the rules.
The only people who can moderate spaces on Tumblr or Twitter are the staff. They are essentially public spaces, anyone can sign up and anyone can say anything and you can’t do anything about it.
This is why Tumblr tags aren’t “communities”; the only one who can make rules about who can post what in the Tumblr tag for a fandom is Tumblr, and tumblr’s answer is that anyone can use it as long as it’s relevant.
The only way to moderate a community is to create a community that you can moderate. Where you control what the rules are, and who gets in.
Which is exactly why I’m creating a proship forum!
