Didn’t Omori get called irredeemable media because the creator is a shotacon? Asking because this isn’t the first time an RPG Maker game has gotten shit for the creator making “problematic” content in their spare time.
I have no idea.
As an anime fan, looking at Omori art it certainly looks like a game made by someone who enjoys shotacon.
It strikes me as being like hating the Black Butler creator, or the artist for Twisted Wonderland.
RPG maker creators get shit for making “problematic” content because they are largely Japanese creators who don’t give a shit about western puritan bullshit.
But they make good games with strong and interesting themes, because they’re indie devs who aren’t taking feedback from assholes about how they should make their game.
So their games get popular in the west.
And then puritan asshole feelings yakuza lose their minds when they find out their favorite Japanese creator doesn’t give a shit what they think is “immoral art.”
And then those western puritans go on racist, xenophobic rants about how Japanese people need to be “re-educated” to make them “more moral.”
It’s happened lots of times before.
The specific incident you might be thinking of is probably Mogeko Castle. Or maybe Mad Father. Both of which are excellent.
