The people who attacked that girl are responsible.
They are not absolved of the guilt for their actions because they read some fiction.
Fiction is not responsible for assault, people who assault people are.

The slender man community came together in solidarity for the family I remember. Spawning the “Creativity not reality” movement. They raised money for the victim and her family.
Creativity is a gift that we should stand for. But we should not abuse reality for the sake of it. Please, remind people and spread awareness that fiction is not reality, that we should not let it control us as such but rather cherish it for what it is. Creativity. Please, Stand for Creativity, not Reality.
