Every few months I need to reinforce my t*rf wall by blocking a few dozen blogs. The way I do this is by blocking blogs that t*rfs tend to reblog from. Doesn’t matter if that blog isn’t a t*rf. If you let that many bugs through the crack I’m not trusting you.

You can usually find more people to block by turning on shinigami eyes and then scrolling through the notes of literally any popular post with a story where idiot man gets owned and acts like an idiot. Because he’s an idiot man.

Blocking people isn’t just about that one person btw. If someone is blocked they can’t reblog from you. That means they can’t show your post with a direct link back to you to all of their bigoted followers. If you don’t have the energy to block hundreds of people when there’s a hate campaign against you, figure out who’s popular in that community and block them. Block off the main distribution hub and the flow of hatred will slow down significantly. Because all the toxic people really do follow each other.

Even if they screenshot your post, then there won’t be a direct link back to you. This will keep all but the most dedicated hate anons away because if it’s a screenshot they have to actively search for you.

I’ve got over 32,000 followers. When your reach becomes that far you’re inevitably gonna have to start building some moats. Especially when you’re part of an oppressed group of some kind. Any kind, really. I live a relatively normal life on tumblr because I’m so strategic with the block button. Finding ways to shield yourself from a toxic ecosystem is basic tumblr self defense.
