It’s literally like the most obvious form of sexual social control, which is a big part of what purity culture is.
And like, even if kink shaming is just “your peers punishing you for being a weirdo” that’s also bad! that’s how bigots targeted crossdressers (and trans women) like there’s a big push against drag queens in the US right now and its inextricably linked to this “well they’re being uncouth and also i am going to smear them as pedophiles” and like thats the same logical throughline that the kinkshamers take. They don’t want to hear it but wanting to control others peoples lives (private or not) is implicitly conservative, reactionary and puritanical.
It’s heartening to hear someone say something so clearly that you have been unable to word correctly. Wanting to control others is “implicitly conservative, reactionary and puritanical.” Such a simple concept that seems to escape so many.
