I remember being initially worried about people commenting on an age gap between my fandom OC and a canon character since one of them is 27 and the other is in their 40’s, but then I remember, there will be people that will act like a 27 year old dating a 40 something year old is “pedophilia,” even though the youngest of the couple is over 18 (or over 21 in other countries’ cases), and a popular ship which I will not name for obvious reasons has an age gap too, so I stopped worrying altogether. And also, saying that a twenty something dating someone way older than them is “pedophilia,” is infantilizing and dehumanizing people in their twenties. Plus if someone comments on how uncomfortable a 27 year old in a relationship with a 40 something year old is for them, I can just remove the comment and block ‘em.
