If your problem with people banning books is that they are banning the wrong books, you are just a different flavor of authoritarian.

Instead of rbing a post and saying that my opinion is bad and talking to the world about me, Please talk to me and help me better understand the subject. I genuinely write this wanting to understand why you disagree/dislike my statement and think it’s wrong
in terms of the modern censorship of “"pornographic”“ books in classrooms, this is a dogwhistle for any books that contain queer content. there is not porn in classroom libraries. states like florida define any mention of non-heterosexual relationships, no matter how actually child-friendly, as pornographic and too sexual for children.
also like book bannings is inherently right wing leaning ideology. it originated with right wings. and there’s no meaningful way to separate that idea from the right wing rhetoric it came from. and with how much harm the republican party is doing right now we should not be voting on any of their policies.
yes even this one. we also in general need to stop trusting that the current group of legislators won’t enact “banning nsfw books’ in a non homophobic way. they’ve let iust down every time before. how many times will we let them let us down before we stop being a fool? literally the only politicians interested in banning books are the most homophobic republicans you’ve ever seen.
and being in denial of that won’t change anything. we need to acknowledge it. my main issue with any political blogger who agrees with this notion is they keep ignoring this repeatedly even with blatant proof. and that’s been really fucking s over this election race. so maybe let’s stop putting our heads in the sand about this already.
