i fucking hate how “wholesome” is so often placed as directly opposite sexual content. I hate puritanism you’re not being “wholesome” you’re shaming something completely healthy. A lot of people are sexual. Let them fucking express it in their own space.

Not directly, no one’s making long posts specifically on the subject, but I often see “wholesome” specifically mean non-sexual. SFW art from a porn artist called “wholesome” art, editing porn to make it “wholesome”, etc etc. Its a linguistic shorthand that betrays an underlying bias.

Y’all remember that post from some lesbian about wanting to have sex with other women, that someone edited to be about holding hands and people were commenting about how the edit saved it from ‘horny jail’ to make it ‘wholesome’? Wholesome is an attack on anything outside the norm while trying to put on a positive face because people know that going up to the person calmly smiling and yelling that they’re an asshole marks you as a bad person regardless of context.
