My introduction to anti/pro ship discourse was in 2017. I was casually shipping and drawing ship art of two of the Osomatsu-san brothers and when I posted it, I definitely got responses I wasn’t expecting and had literally never gotten before on any of my prior “problematic” ship art. I don’t think it was necessarily called anti-ship at that point or in that circle at the time but BLmatsu haters went NUTS.
Yeah the stuff antis will target– especially in the beginning– seems really random.
