Recently I found a discord server for a pretty small fandom I’m in. Was super excited, server ends up being mostly antis. I dont ship any of the things they consider problematic so I was like whatever I can keep my Proship stance on the DL, I’m just desperate to talk to people of the series. People start talking shit in general about people who ship a certain pairing (a 15 year old and an 18 year old mind you), and how they wanted to harass some people on tumblr and Ao3 who did ship, including sending few good ol KYSes. I was a little horrified and DMed a mod to tell them what was going on and their response was “well for some people telling someone who supports problematic content to KYS can actually be pretty therapeutic. They probably aren’t serious about it.” I was like it doesn’t matter if someone doesn’t mean it some people are more sensitive to that kind of thing. They gave me a vague answer of “Well maybe they should think about what they support if they don’t want backlash.” I have never left a discord server so quickly after that.
