Friends who like FNAF– are the novels any good?

What’s the best method to interact with the source material of FNAF if I like story and lore more than playing video games?

shit I think i’m on a horror kick

Hiya! FNAF addict here!

I haven’t read all the novels yet, but from what I heard they’re… good? Like, they’re not amazing but for the reputation these books have on the fandom (especially on the theory-crafters side) I was kinda surprised that they’re actually a good, compelling story.

Considering your comment, (quote) “Harry wants to know if you know the material where all the william afton lust in fandom comes from, because he wants to see it” (end quote), definitely the novel trilogy is the way to go, as William Afton (and honestly every character) has barely any characterization in the games themselves, though some things are shuffled around since it’s not the same universe as the games.

The Fazbear Frights series is completely different from the novels, going for a “short stories that (vaguely) pass in the same universe” format. I can’t exactly say this series is good cause these short stories tend to vary a lot in quality, from some really terrifying stories like “alarm clock doll keeps waking the character up in the middle of the night even after the doll is long gone” (1:35 AM), to some more nonsense concepts like “VR developer births a baby Springtrap” (In The Flesh).

I don’t know much about the latest series, Tales of The Pizzaplex, besides that it’s a collection of short stories passing on the universe of FNAF Security Breach.

About the second question, it’s really hard to tell what would be the “best method to interact with the source material” as the story of the franchise was always all over the place (a major plot point of FNAF 6 was revealed in the code of Scottgames.com for like 2-3 weeks, for fucks sake). Nowadays the best way to know something about FNAF canon would be watching/reading theories to be honest.

Thank you, this is all really helpful. Sounds like we’ll be looking into the novel trilogy first off!
