Ive been seeing some posts about how stuff like anti shipping isn’t comparable to “real censorship” and it’s cringe to “derail” posts about censorship by bringing it up What do you think about this?
It’s bullshit.
It denies the fact that people’s attitudes and opinions about things in fandom don’t just stay in fandom.
They want to say “fiction affects reality”.
How about “online affects reality”.
Online isn’t a magic nowhere space that’s separate from real life.
It’s like saying opinion pieces in newspapers and magazines don’t affect reality.
The people who say fandom opinions don’t influence things outside of fandom are ninnies who want to excuse their own shitty behavior.
Either you believe art and fiction should be censored, or you don’t.
You can’t put the censorship genie back in the bottle once you let it out.
