Idiots on Twitter are trying to cancel gay male creators like Bryan Fuller and Gengoroh Tagame because these creators don’t abide by Antis being generally terrible people, and are trying to push the grift that they don’t do good rep because they don’t do purely wholesome gay content.
Which, as you might have guessed, is just plain homophobia. Gay men doing gay rep in ways you don’t like has done more for the queer community than your sanitised corporate ideal homophobic bullshit ever will.
Tom of Finland saved the lives of queer people across decades. Not so the idiotic, vindictive homophobia of people claiming to be queer while throwing queer creators under the bus over fiction.
Y’all are tying the rope they’ll hang you with.
Wait wait wait wait! Hold on now!
I don’t know who Bryan Fuller is, but I have read one of Gengoroh Tagame’s stories. That story being “My Brother’s Husband,” a story about a Japanese man reassessing his prejudice and a glimpse into what homophobia in Japan.
You’re telling me, that antis, antis who bitch and moan about fujin content and how mlm media should be for mlm only, is giving the bara mangaka shit for not bending to Western ideals? The same people who a few years ago put bara on a pedestal simply because it’s made by gay men, is giving a gay man shit for writing and drawing what he likes and what his audience likes? Because it doesn’t appeal to their Western standards?
Bryan Fuller iirc is the writer of Hannibal the TV show
And guess what? He’s not just a HUGE defender of Proshippers, he’s a proship himself 😉 He even has a mug with PROSHIP proudly displayed on the front!
These are tweets that are still up, and he has never backed down from ensuring that the term Proship still means Ship and Let Ship, even despite his own fandom being overrun with antis
But yes, unfortunately, Antis don’t give a damn where the creators are from, they WILL (as evidenced in the screenshots above with the people arguing with him) absolutely bitch and whine and moan about how both are “Not Doing Queer Rep Right!”
