I think the whole thing with Ashley in RE4 is that people forget she’s 20 or are purposefully obtuse about her age. She looked like she could have been 14 in the original (not that, it mattered because hello fiction) but people thought it was gross that a 27 yo was flirty with a 14 yo (I’ve seen these arguments except they said kid or teen because she looked so young even though it states her age and that she’s a university student) and now a good few people thought they aged her up in the remake to be “creepy” even though they took the “creepy” bits out.
Yeah. People “thought she was 14” and “treated her like she was 14”.
Despite the original being very clear about her age.
It’s body shaming and misogyny pure and simple.
It’s the exact same shit that leads assholes to call people “pedophiles” for dating petite adult women.
Some people don’t look like your ideal version of an adult. Many women look like they could fit in with middle schoolers well into their 20s.
And infanitilizing adult women for how they look is wrong.
Shaming women for having sex lives is wrong.
It is extremely gross for people to infantilize Ashley and treat her like a child.
