See now when I see posts complaining about the evils of “fandomification and shipping” I’m like. “Is this in relation to actual declines in media literacy such as people not being able to enjoy fiction unless the protagonist is relatable to them, not understanding symbolism, not understanding the concept of an unreliable narrator, assuming people are 100% of what they read or watch, literally not being taught how to visualize written stories, and so forth? Or did somebody post cringey fan stuff and you just wanna complain while looking correct for it?”
