my opinion on rpf has always been that i personally find it distasteful, but i only take issue with it if it’s being sent to the real person in question, and even then the issue is taken with the individual sending it, not the “genre” as a whole (not to the degree of harassing anyone obviously, but i might block/report if necessary). people have always had crushes on celebrities, and they always will, and so long as people are respectful it’s not a problem. but if people start sending the real people those writings or disclosing their desires to that real person without consent, it lapses into legal trouble at best and potential to cause mental/emotional trauma or physical danger as a result. it’s okay to fantasize about people, crush on people, etc– but forgoing basic respect and sending someone rpf about themselves feels like sexual harassment to me, yknow? does that make sense?
This is basically our exact stance. 🤝
We don’t personally enjoy RPF but we support people’s right to create and share it– just don’t shove it in the faces of the people it’s written about.
