No seriously, a hilarious result of recent children’s films focusing on familial relationships over any kind of romantic arc in their stories is genuinely resulting in more shipcest.
Frozen, Encanto, Turning Red, etc and now Mario Bros.
If you make a familial relationship the emotional core of your film people *will* ship it, thats just how people are 🤣
People will simply ship whatever they feel is the most intense emotional relationship in a story.
If that’s enemies, its enemies to lovers.
If that’s friends, its friends to lovers.
If that’s familial, it’s shipcest.
