Also my last take on the topic is, like, “its FICTIONAL it doesn’t affect reality”
so like why was a grown ass woman trying to groom me with eren/levi AoT fanfiction when I was 15?
Why did another grown woman try to groom me with explicit porn and ERP of an Earthbound character, a minor?
Why did i grow up with other kids online who were obsessed with “s/hotacon” and calling themselves sh/otas to their older friends?
Are like…. we not real?
Well, for the first points, because they’re predators. Fiction cannot groom you. Fiction can be used to groom you. The exact same way anything else in the world can be used to groom you. The same way Twilight can be used to groom victims. The same way sweets and toys can be used to groom victims.
Fiction IS fictional. What REAL PEOPLE choose to use it for isn’t fictional. And nobody’s saying it is. But a car can be used to kill someone. It doesn’t mean cars are the problem.
Your groomers were the problems. Fictional content wasn’t the problem. Those women who actively groomed you would’ve found another way to do it if it wasn’t fiction.
And as for your friends calling themselves shotas, that’s also not the fault of creators.
I’ve never met a single adult creator who makes adult content who willingly interacts with minors in this space. I’ve never met a single adult creator who would be fine with minors calling themselves shotas to them.
If you exclusively spend time with predators, you’re going to see things as predatory. But fictional content wasn’t the problem and I hope you heal enough to stop justifying the actions of abusers. Because that’s what you do when you give them an excuse and claim your abuse was caused by fiction existing rather than the predators who actually groomed you.
Or hell, if someone is an abusive drunk but is only abusive when drunk then…uhh…the solution usually recommended is for them to stop drinking with the help of something like AA if necessary. But there’s a reason the solution recommended is almost never “All Bars in Hypothetical County need to be shut down.”
It’s their responsibility to stop metaphorically drinking and not ours to stop serving the metaphorical alcohol ever.
