I think that people are a little too aggressive with antis that think that they are genuinely doing the right thing when they falsely accuse someone of being a pedophile/groomer/etc.
Yes, what they are doing is terrible, but please try to give them the benefit of the doubt and just talk it out peacefully. Anger only breeds anger.
You can be uncomfortable, it is always normal to be in circumstances like those. But telling them to off themselves just makes everything worse.
If they think they’re helping people, you can try and explain to them that they aren’t. You might fail, they might never change. It happens and it’s infuriating, but always remember that everyone is human and we all deserve respect.
I think it’s important to be willing to at least sometimes have a civil conversation with someone who is also willing to have a civil conversation.
Often, we will try to talk to antis who are polite but confused or upset.
But no one is obligated to be polite or nice to someone who comes out of the gate hurling slurs, ableism, victim blaming, suibaiting or death threats.
If someone wants to try to have a civil conversation with someone who is already being disrespectful, hostile and aggressive, more power to them.
But not wanting to be polite to someone who thinks you’re an evil person and tells you do die is absolutely fine.
This goes for any aggressive disrespectful person online; you’re not obligated to be nice to antis, terfs, homophobes or anyone who vocally thinks you’re evil and disgusting for existing.
That said, obviously don’t tell anyone to kill themselves ever. Under any circumstances.
