penny for your thoughts: having major crushes on characters way younger than you? specifically animated ones. when i watch anime i can’t help but view the characters as peers, and the older i get the more i feel kinda weird having a legit blush fest over some 14 year old twink. obv i don’t view ACTUAL kids that way, and my therapist has told me it’s fairly normal, but i like to get a feel for how my fellow proshippers view it.
100% completely normal, especially if you grew up with the character, but even if you didn’t.
Remember that a character in a story isn’t a person, they’re a collection of traits and ideas applied to a narrative.
A character isn’t “a 14 year old” they’re an idea about someone who has certain traits and behaviors in circumstances.
What you’re crushing on is the traits and behaviors and circumstances.
Anyway I’ll never NOT have a crush on Ash Ketchum. 😂
