It’s because new ideas are scary and hard to process and fit into your already formed perception of the world.

A lot of us Sinister System’s age grew up barely knowing that you could be *gay* let alone *transgender* and nonbinary was just completely out there.

Gender ideas are really baked into a lot of people and we never got that scoop of nonbinary as a kid. Men were men, women were women. We were taught (abused) into believing it was an immutable fact.

Fuck I genuinely think I didn’t know what trasgender WAS at all until I was like 18. I’m serious.

Learning new ideas and integrating them into your belief system is hard and it never happens for some people.
