Also, how can you be pro-blocking AND proshipping but anti-creator boundaries?
If a creator of a content sets a boundary with said content and tells people not to interact with it a certain way, then if you believe in boundaries, you respect and follow that rule. It’s not censorship for you to not write porn if the creator explicitly says they do not want porn allowed of their characters. Creators have rights to their content, since they created it.
However, if you feel people should be able resist against these type of boundaries because freedom is more important than a creator’s wishes, then you can’t in any sort of consistency bar people from your content by blocking them.
It sincerely bothers me because I do not get how you can block someone and prevent them from even seeing your content, but you step all over what other content creators do and get away with it because they can’t easily block you.
I really wish someone would explain this to me so I don’t have to keep expressing my confusion over and over again.
Alright, I came upon this post while I was logged out, and since you seem genuinely confused, I have unblocked you to explain it to you.
Your boundaries do not dictate the behavior of other people.
You can not use your boundaries to control what other people do.
What a boundary is is saying what you will put up with in your presence.
What a boundary is is saying “if you do this I will not continue interact with you.”
For instance lets say my boundary is swearing. I hate swearing, and I hate people swearing around me.
I cannot stop people from swearing.
I cannot even stop people from swearing around me.
What I can do is draw a boundary and say “if you swear around me I will no longer hang out with you.”
And then when someone violates your boundary you enforce it by withdrawing your presence from the person who has violated your boundary.
If you are a creator, you cannot dictate the behavior of fans with your boundaries.
What you can do is enforce your boundaries by blocking and refusing to interact with any fan who does not respect your boundaries.
A fan is not refusing to respect a creator’s boundary simply by doing something they don’t like.
If for instance, a fan was making NSFW material of a creator’s media after the creator asked them not to– and then the creator blocked them, and then the fan deliberately block-evaded the creator to harass them with NSFW– THAT would be breaking a creator’s boundaries.
Boundaries don’t control other people.
They control what you’re willing to put up with in your presence.
I hope that makes sense to you. If it does not, please let me know what’s confusing to you so that I can elaborate! 💞
